Music and words - ‘When my first wife left me’ by John Lee Hooker
I chose John Lee Hooker’s music for its stirring and evocative sound, it adapts the mind to the slow pace and feeling of a Southern American blues bar.
The words are carefully followed by a pointing finger which holds the viewers attention transfixed onto a steamy mirror. A musical time warp. The song roams like a day dream, wandering and rhythmically free.
I experimented with home lighting in order to create a moody atmosphere of a dark and smokey interior. The singer is briefly represented in his trademark sunglasses and an assortment of found objects act as props to provide references to bars, women, drink and night-time.
The theme of departure from a failed relationship is carried throughout the film by the sound of clicking heels on a pair of feminine legs.

Outside no.45 Brixton Village, the HustleBucks hosted
a free live catwalk event for their shop launch.

It was a brilliant night, the clothes looked amazing and the crowd cheered the models as they strutted their stuff on the catwalk to some classic hip hop tunes.
I enjoyed editing this film because it was such an exciting occasion. I wanted to capture this feeling and have used the little girl twirling as an expression of everyone's feelings at the event. I have endeavored to edit it and exaggerate the elegant swagger of the models moving down the catwalk in time to the music. I also wanted to incoporate all the people involved in the hard work and preparation that took place before the event and which made it possible.
